Scouts NSW - 2nd Sutherland (Armco) Scout Group

Cubs section: ages 8-11

Welcome to 2nd Sutherland Cub Scouts

A group of children and adults facing the camera, they look joyful. Some are wearing Scout uniforms, some are holding body boards. They are standing on a platform in front of sand dunes, a small lagoon, with suburban houses in the middle distance. An orange sunset is in the background.Cub Scouts at Cronulla Sand Dunes, November 2025

You can join the Cub Scout Unit between 8 to 10 years, though members in the unit are aged between 8 and 10 years. Cub Scouts can start transitioning to the Scout Unit after they turn 11 and before they turn 12.

The Cub Scout unit meets on Monday evenings during school terms, usually from 6.30 pm to 8.00pm. When we are away from the hall on Adventurous Activities such as bushwalking, paddling or cycling, we may start earlier in the evening.

NB. Unless otherwise advised, regular Scouting activities do not run during school holidays.

The Cub Scout unit is divided into groups of five to seven members called patrols, led by a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader. The patrols may have certain responsibilities within the unit and during activities.

Cub Scouts are encouraged to lead or assist in leading and planning at least part of the weekly actitivies, with the direct assistance of our Cub Scout Leaders, and the enthusiastic participation of their peers.

Cub Scouts have the opportunity to learn new skills, serve their community and work together or independently to complete projects which may stand alone as achievements, or form part of the pathway towards earning the Grey Wolf Award (GWA).
